DE's and airplanes!

How do you gentlemen travel with your DE's? I hate checking luggage, and really doubt DHS will allow DE blades through screening. Any tricks or tips?

You could mail some blades ahead.

Or buy new at your destination.

Whatever you do, don't hide them in your shoe!

Good points, sorry for not using the search functions to find a thoroughly discussed topic.

I have another newbie question that I couldn't really find an answer to- what brick and mortar stores sell DE blades? From personal experience I know walgreens sells cheapies... Where is the modern traveler able to find better blades like Treet's or Gilette's? Thanks!

Tip: Check your blades.
Empty razors are okay.

Just a note, I recently flew out of Mason City Iowa. I was pulled out of line and told that I had to move my razor to my checked bags. TSA pulled my bags back out to the ticket counter, and was explaining to the agent, that I needed to move the razor because it contained a blade. I corrected him, saying that the razor is empty and that the blades were packed in the checked bags. I opened the case and the razor, turned it upside and showed him that it was empty. He said that he had misunderstood and that I was in fact good to go. The moral is from now on I will open the razor and set it on top, so that there is no doubt it is empty.

Good idea. There's someone else on the forum that disassembles their 3 piece and puts it in the tray to prevent questions too.

Option C is to buy a super cheap (~$2) razor from an antique store and check that. If you lose it you're only out $2.
