Deer Bone & Cordovan

Bumbling across the internet today - had to throttle productivity - I stumbled across a video in which a deer bone is used to get the scuffs out of and clean cordovan. Does anyone here actually use one?

i'm assuming you're referring to the video on how to polish cordovan? I love that video.....so relaxing to watch.but to answer your question, I haven't tried deer bone.

I don't use it, but I use that entire Saphir line of products. Great stuff IMHO.

Oof. $36? That's a bit steep for bone. I could just ask my father in-law to give me a piece of deer bone after hunting season.

That was my thoughts but I wonder if the bone has to be treated or sealed in some fashion. Most bones seem to dry out and crack which you would most definitely want to avoid if you are rubbing on $600 shoes.

The bone supposedly has been treated with oils. Some people at style forum recommend a good conditioning and using the back of a spoon for any type of smoothing that may be needed. But, to my recollection the bone has been treated.

There is a gentleman named Isaac (no relation) that works at the shine shop at the Escandido Mall. I believe that is where it was. Excellent shine, and great conversationalist. If I lived in SF, would definitely go for the pampering.
