D.R. Harris Windsor

I used D.R. Harris Windsor (my first Harris soap) for the first time today and I was impressed. I used my Simpsons Rover in best and I enjoyed an extremely pleasant shave. As others have noted, the scent isn't sharp, but, it's ambient throughout the shave in a pleasing, albeit discreet way. I have a feeling this soap will be moving toward the top of my list.

I found the scent of D.R. Harris Arlington Cream to be too strong. Is the scent of the soap more discreet like that of Windsor?

My Windsor, Arlington and Lavender soaps all have a nice subtle scent. My Marlborough has the strongest and my Almond had no scent at all. From posts I've read, the strength of the scent does not seem to be consistent and can vary from puck to puck. If you ask DRH users to rate the soaps on how strong the scent is, everyone's list will probably vary. I don't have any Harris creams to compare.

Windsor is my favorite D.R. Harris scent, with Arlington number 2. It has such a classy, elegant smell and the soap is top notch, as you would expect from Harris. I also have the Windsor cream, and find the scent to be stronger.

The scent strength of Harris pucks seems to vary a bit, even between examples of the same variety. The only Harris cream I've tried is Windsor, and to me it had considerably more scent than any of the soaps.

I just received my DRH Windsor soap earlier this week too. I chose Windsor over Arlington between the two samples I got because the smell just seemed more "mature". I felt that the scent wasn't strong at all but I could still smell it lingering a couple of hours later after my shave. Quickly becoming one of my faves!

I used Windsor yesterday, and to me the scent is a subtle barber shop shaving soap. It lathered like crazy with my Omega Pro 49. I'm very pleased with Windsor.

My puck of Windsor resided in the bottom of an Aluminum camping cup. I reach for it every three weeks or so and the scent still remains. My favorite DRH scent by far.

I relegated my Lavender puck to the shower and use it as regular soap now. Compared to MWF, the Harris soap always seems too dry. No matter what razor or blade I use, when I lather up with DRH, the razor starts to drag. However, I feel like I don't want to give up on DRH. It sounds crazy, but could other fragrances "behave" differently on one's face?

I grab my DR harris lavender often when I'm in a hurry, lathers so easily. and by God it lasts forever. really, a quality investment

My lavender puck lathers gloriously. I use aggressive razors (R41 2011. Sabi, fatip) - I don't find it dragging- it is slick. I face lather - could it be that your lather needs more water?

I actually can raise a pretty decent lather out of my lavender DRH, and have plenty for 3 or more passes. I don't think water would make it any slicker, but I will give it a try. Actually, sometimes I add a few drops of glycerin to whatever I'm using on a given day. Just a few drops of glycerin thickens and slicks up almost anything. However, I consistently have unsatisfactory results with the DRH. And, since I find great satisfaction using MWF, it somehow isn't worth the effort to figure out the quirks of DRH. I think it just isn't my soap. It's a mystery to me.

I have an older Arlington soap, which scent is less strong than the Windsor soap. In comparison I'd almost say the Windsor is too strong. I don't know if the Arlington soap has a weaker scent than the cream, because I don't have the Arlington cream. I have the Almond cream. This cream packs a bigger punch when it comes to scent strength than the Harris soaps IMHO. So I guess the Arlington cream scent is stronger than the soap.

Both Harris cream and soap give a great shave, no doubt about that.

Using Harris products just feels so right, it's wrong.

They're just pure class. Everything from the packaging, scents, performance. Everytime I reach for their stuff I know I'm going to have a great luxury experience.

My Windsor soap has a weak barbershop scent, I don't have Arlington to compare it to as of yet.

All around though, I still think it's a great soap.

I have them all in my current rotation.

I find the Marlborough to have the strongest scent and as noted in the thread the Arlington to be the one to fastest lose its scent.

My Almond is scentless so I grated it and added 20 drops of Marlborough cologne to the mix. First it was rather disgusting but the scent has now mellowed and is actually quite nice. The basenotes from the Marlborough cologne are gone however!

On a personal note I must add that the Windsor Balm AS is a new personal favorite, since SWMBO banned the pink balm from the house after 5 years in my rotation.
