D.R. Harris soap or cream?

Hello Gents!

I have samples of D.R. Harris Marlborough and Windsor cream and I love them! I know I definitely want to own each sometime in the future, but I am having trouble deciding if I want the soap or the cream! I normally prefer creams over soaps, but in this instance I am looking for the one that has the strongest scent. I just love them that much. I hate the higher price tag on the creams from Harris, but I am willing to put out if they are more potent.

Can you guys help me out?

p.s. I am not going to buy both soap and cream!

I think soaps are better than creams. Not only in value but also in performance.

The only time I buy a cream is if it isn't available as a soap, and I think my cream buying days are over

Totally agree with that my fellow Greek. I too am a soap-freak, although I recently revisited Castle Forbes shaving cream, this time buying the Lavender. It's practically a soap (you are better off lathering it in the container) and works really well.

Back to the OP question - I think there is little between the two DR Harris soaps that you mention in terms of scent. Both are fairly light to my nose. Might be inclined to say that the Windsor is slightly stronger, but there is very little between them. Arlington is the stronger from the overall range that I've owned/tried and I would vote for the soaps as well.

I'd have to say soap as well. I bought both the Arlington and Marlborough soaps and creams about the same time because I wasn't sure which ones I would prefer.... but it turns out I enjoy lathering soaps and DRH soaps are some of the best. The scents are about the same IMO.... no noticeable difference in intensity either way from what I can tell. Soaps keep better and are a better value IMO. I probably won't buy any DRH creams again, and I'll just stick with the soaps.

Thanks for the help fellas. I too enjoy quality soaps. At the moment I have more soaps than creams so I was trying to balance that out a bit. Looks like soap is the way to go with Harris!

Marlborough and Windsor here I come! :biggrin1:

looks like you've already decided but i agree that perfomance is better in soaps. i only have a soap and cream in the arlington scent so i can't compare soap vs cream on other scents but to me they're pretty similar as far as scent goes.

i will note that something incredible happened with my cream. it hardened up some and now has the consistency of a soft-soap. best of both worlds right there. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions. 12/12 recommended their soaps over their creams! To those that suggested the shaving sticks, I appreciate your feedback but I am not much of a stick guy. The only stick I currently have is the Palmolive soap and I grate that into a bowl. Soap it is!

i wonder what would happen if you posted this same question in the cream thread. :biggrin1:

That is a good question . I pondered that before I posted, but I felt the soaps forum was more popular, so that is what I went with.
