D/E safety razor on the melon?

Okay, old age and 20 years in the Navy have reduced me to shaving not only my ugly face but my bulbous melon as well. I used to have a d/e safety razor for the face and it was wonderful, after I got used to it. It got damaged in a move...

Anyone use a safety razor on the ole melon? I've been using a Gillette Power Glide, but I can't keep taking out loans to buy packs of blades for the thing.

I use one on my head too, single pass with no issues using feather blades which I replace every other shave. Just be careful behind the ears!

+1 what Curly said. change your blades every 2 shaves and the only thing I have nicked are my ears.

I've been using a DE on my head since I started using one, no problems. I actually got more nicks with a cartridge razor.

At first I was very apprehensive about DE shaving on the noggin. I shave my head every friday evening and I started doing just what I could see and now have worked up sufficient confidence to shave by feel in areas that I can't see while shaving. I can do about a 90% job and then do a cleanup pass with my Mach III. I use Proraso for the entire process.

I've been DE shaving since April of this year and it was the best decision. I get the smoothest (face and dome) shaves compared to any cartridges (Fusion, Mach3). It takes longer but the results are priceless. Also... traditional shaving is so much more fun and challenging.
