Czech & Speake aftershaves

Does anyone have any experience with the C&S aftershaves? I read Evbo's (not so) glowing review, and I'm curious as to what others may think. Aside from the really crazy price, how are they in terms of efficacy and whatnot? How well does it soothe and fight razor burn (according to Evbo, the answer is a resounding NO)? Does the scent last? I got confirmation from them that they are all the same aside from scent, and this is the ingredients list:

Alcohol denat. (SD Alcohol 40-B), Aqua (Water),
Parfum (Fragrance), Glycerin, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Triclosan, Eugenol, Evernia Prunastri Extract, Benzyl benzoate, Citral, Benzyl salicylate, Farnesol, Isoeugenol, Benzyl alcohol

Seems like straightforward stuff, similar to other well regarded splashes. Evernia Prunastri is oakmoss, usually used as ither a scent itself or as a perfume fixative. Most of the other fancy sounding ingredients perform similar functions or are other scent-related things. The only major ingredient I find different from other AS splashes is the triclosan, which is a common antibacterial agent (also found in antibac soaps, Clearasil, and even in Old Spice), so it may be slightly better at germ killing.

Anyway, thoughts, comparisons, teestimonials? I'm placing an order with them today for some cologne and shaving soap, and wondering if the AS would be worth it or not.

I pretend C&S doesn't exist, because I don't currently have enough disposable income to pursue their product line.

LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

I know, that's why I'm only going to order ONCE, lol...shipping from the UK is murder (and yes, I know they are stocked by Cambridge Chemists in NYC, but the prices are much higher, even with the 10% B&B discount...I've done all the math...).

You think the prices are high for their scent stuff, you should see their bathroom fixtures...almost $3K for a BENCH?!? Get outta town...

I agree Mark...especially since Proraso or Musgo Real is just as effective at a fraction of the price. I'm thinking that my SCS Savory Rose splash and milk would be a great compliment to the cologne anyway, plus the splash has menthol :thumbup1:.

To be honest though, I am interested in the No. 88 shave soap.. May pick up a puck to try.

Yup, $34 or so is pricey for a 90 gram puck of soap, but WTH, I ordered one each of #88 and Oxford & Cambridge, along with a 200ml bottle of #88 cologne, and one 100ml of O&C cologne...ugh...my credit card hates me right now...

The good part of that order is you'll be set for a LONG time. Their products last! And yeah, my experience w/the O&C AS wasn't exactly positive in the skin-healing dept. But it sure does smell good! :thumbup1:

Funny you should say that. I was in need of a new toilet seat recently, and at the same time just happened to get an e-mail from C&S advertising a $1,200 mahogany toilet seat with platinum accents. While I was seriously tempted to get it, I picked up a $30 Bemis seat from Home Depot instead. Now...what to do with that extra $1,170?

You could go for the Bold Look of Kohler, and get a comfort height elongated toilet...I recommend the K-3489, with Class Five™ flushing technology. You'll STILL have plenty left over for tallow based shave soaps...:tongue_sm

Hmm...tough choice: For $1200 I could get one C&S toilet seat, or two entire Kohler toilets and still have enough left over for a good shaving brush. What to do?

I'm more partial to the Borat look, myself.

Borat: I like-a very much buy this Hummers, how much is it?
Car Dealership owner: Fifty-two thousand.
Borat: I am looking for something between um, six-hundred to uh... six-hundred and fifty dollars.
Car Dealership owner: We don't have any cars for six-fifty that you can buy. I might be able to sell you a wholesale car, a car with a lot of miles for seven-hundred with no warranty.
