CVS Brand Spice Scent Aftershave

I've heard numerous times that many of you have purchased the dollar store brand versions of Old Spice, but I have not read much on CVS's
version...

I bought a bottle for $5 and have been pleasantly surprised at how well it works and it seems to be the original scent of Old Spice. Although the bottles look the same as the dollar store versions, this is distributed by CVS.

I wanted to know if anyone else has tried this and what they think of it. Haven't found a review on it yet either.

Yeah, CVS Pharmacy is the devil, MASSIVE rip off. I almost refuse to shop there. A bottle of PG old spice is 7 dollars there, and it's 5 at dollar general, and the dollar store spice A/S is usually 1.75

I'd love to get it from a dollar store, only problem is there's none close to me. If I came across one I'd probably buy about 10 bottles haha

Where do you live that you don't have a Family Dollar near you? If you're in the US of A just go to their website and enter your zipcode in the store locater and find one near you.

Just check in any of the dollar store - 99 cent type of store that you run across. You can find some neat stuff from time to time and you might just find one that carries that Vi-John a/s.

There is a CVS that is 5 minutes from my house, versus 40 minutes for the closet chain dollar store. There is a dollar store in my town, however they only carry really knockoff stuff that isn't worth the $1 you pay for it.

No Barbasol aftershaves or cheap Vi-Jon OS clones here, near as I can tell.

I got my Pacific Rush in a trade, and stocked up on the dollar store OS clone when I found it at a local dollar joint, but they shuttered up.

Rite Aid carries it as the OS clone as a house brand, about five bucks, I think. I had to buy a bottle to compare. :blushing:

Unfortunately, most of the dollar stores around here are pretty thin on any worthwhile shaving stuff. Lots of Dorco disposables, cheap canned goos and knockoffs of trendy colognes.

At Family Dollar here it is $1.60. At CVS it is $5.69 and from what I can tell, the same thing.

What's really weird for me is that I went to West Virginia last year to visit some relatives, and out there in the boonies was a Family Dollar. And there isn't any in SoCaL? How about a 99 cent Only store. The Regatta Spice Scent is the exact same stuff as at CVS.

I bought a bottle of the CVS Vi-Jon as well before I found the Fred's in town had the Vi Jon for $2.

Sure, I paid a little more, but even at $5 it's worth it.

Yeah it's the exact same brand. Just CVS takes the ViJohn logo off and slaps on their own. Where as Family Dollar just uses the Ivy Club label. I actually JUST bought some of it today for 1.75 after tax.

Fred's Dollar Stores also carry the Vi-Jon Ivy Club Spice. Odds are, if it a generic AS, then it was probably made by Vi-Jon.

I use the Family Dollar Vi-John, found it at Freds as well with their own logo. The Vi-John stuff, for a very short time, captures a stale Old Spice essence I like. Whoever formulated this product was obviously using a pre-60's sample that had been sitting around awhile getting strong.
I have found (as well as others) that mixing Ivy Club with P&G Old Spice cologne makes the best splash aftershave with a lasting scent.
It doesn't get more real for me as far as chasing the elusive vintage Old Spice experience.

 Interesting. BTW How's your Burley quest coming along?

The ViJohn logo is on the bottom of the plastic container. ViJohn simply sells their product to a whole bunch of different retailers, who request that it be labeled with their house brand.

By the way, ViJohn also makes Skin Bracer.

And oddly enough, a skin bracer knockoff.
