Custom Muhle Silvertip Fibre

Hello guys. A couple of days ago i sent an email to Muhle asking for vendors that make custom brushes that use their fibre. They did not reply recommending any vendor but instead said "we can do it, how many" and i replied just one, for me :biggrin1: and did not have more replies.

I was wondering if we can manage to get a nice quantity (50?) perhaps we could order to Muhle. What i see Muhle is lacking in its ST lineup is a nice Simpsons Chubby like brush. Something like 25x50 or anything like that any experienced Muhle user or even Muhle itself may suggest based on the final qualities.

Perhaps we could even ask for a two color handle config as their coming Revival line up?

I know you guys do this kind of community buys but do not know the procedure (payment, logistics, etc.)

What you guys say, interested in a Chubby Silvertip Fibre?

Very tempting indeed...but I have exhausted my finances for the time being and need to save up for Christmas purchases coming out. Sorry! Good luck and anyone that does not own a Muhle Silvertip Fibre brush yet, I would highly encourage you to jump on this! The Muhle Silvertip Fibres are the best on the market right now in my oppinion (and many others that are actually experts with brushes) among all the synthetics on the market.

Speaking as a brush fanatic, I am always keen on the idea of shavers exploring the various possibilities as regards manufacturers, hair types, handle shape etc. Speaking as a Moderator- you will need to do your homework and then approach one of the Moderator Team in order for this to be considered as a Group Buy.

Very much agreed. Also, more specifics and details nailed down would likely elicit much more responses. I've often thought how wonderful it would be if Muhle modified their STF knot just slightly in the 23mm size how wonderful it could be. This may end up being truly awesome. Though perhaps a quote for non-natural horn (a faux horn) handle may bring the price down and get more people into it. I agree with Claus that a Natural Horn would suit this brush very well, I would just worry how many folks would be willing to pay for it.

Hey, nice idea!

The drawback on the STF for me has been lack of backbone. I feel like they splay to much. I started with the 21mm travel brush. I was so impressed by it that I bought the 23mm which was way to large for my liking, followed by the 21mm brush. Nope, still too soft. The 21mm regular brush has a tad bit higher loft than my travel brush. It feels more dense too. The travel brush is spot on for my liking.

TL;DR: Yes if the brush isn't too large in knot diameter and loft.

I would low a custom silver tip fibre. I have a kosmo fibre right now. Unfortunately, at this moment, I do not have the financial ability to purchase really anything. Please keep us informed.

Oh gosh, i'm totally inexperienced in this kind of stuff. Perhaps i'll come up with some prototypes, so please MOD, let me keep this thread open to upload some cool 3D renders!

GAZ I have done the paperwork for such a groupbuy last year and can offer my help.
The idea then was to have a flathead in the upscaled handle.

The people at Muhle are great to work with. Keep in mind that in Germany they are off from work A LOT for holidays and vacation time. They will reply it just might take some time. I would be up for it but I have a silvertip fibre knot at home that I am still waiting to put in a handle.

I got a reply about the Silvertip Fibre 2.0 from Mühle:

We have slightly reworked the STF's to add little more backbone by reducing the diameter of the fibres.

And he also said to get in touch with
Wim Bouman for more information about it. And yes, they are getting busy busy for Christmas! Good for them!

Nice update. I'm really excited for a badgerandblade synthetic brush.

What can we all do to help make this a reality? Do we need to start a Badger and Blade kickstarter site?

I'll make a 3d model of the brush and we will play a little about what we want and what we can afford (i wont pay 100 euros for a custom nor any Synth brush!), i'll upload renders and have some fun. After we reach a consensus and get quite a few forum members i'll contact Muhle, tell Chris about our little project and lets see what can be done!

Oh I just assumed if we made a synthetic brush for b&b it would look like this:
