custom millwork mirror suggestions for den

I am finishing up remodeling the bathrooms. Trying to decide if I am missing anything or if my design will be usable.

basically I am going to get a mirror, glue it on to a piece of luann, frame mirror and luann with maple and place a couple shelves at the base (1x4). I am assuming that this modified 'medicine cabinet' will be enough space to hold a bowl, soap bowl, razor or two, brush or two.

Was thinking of even notching the shelves to hold the brushes upright via a drill press to cut a lip out of the lower 1x4 to sit the brush upright in.

Entire mess will be finished in minwax polycrylic satin. Used this on the interior of the maple lowers and it looks very nice (after 4 coat buildup), and it is not supposed to yellow).

Your thoughts or suggestions?

Are your walls stud built? If so, you could recess the sheves into the wall and use the mirrior(s) on the door. I made mine 52''x 30" with 3 doors gives me plenty of storage.

walls are stud built. 52 x 30, wow. I could recess a portion of it which might be interesting.

I want something that 'showcases' brushes and wood bowls (or am I on crack?) so I really don't want to cover them up, but want to keep them off the counter.

Anyone have something like this? Or a photo?

I have 2-1/2" wide redwood shelves pockethole screwed from the bottom into the studs for the floating shelf look. It works well for my razors and brush and seems sturdy enough. For bowls I think you would need a wider shelf, and I don't know how sturdy it would be with the pocket hole attachment. Try and let us know! My bathroom is old and grungy but I can send you a pic via email if you want.

Don't you need more room than for "a razor or two." I can buy two razors without even trying. And you'll need more than one bowl of soap because you don't use the same kind in November that you do in July. And really, won't you want to have a travel brush and a back up brush? And once you settle on the right kind of blades, you'll want to stock up. I'm thinking six shelves.
