Cuban Heel Boots

When I was a kid, Cuban Heel Boots were very popular. My older brother had a pair and it was that same old story for me... Mom said I was too young for Cuban heels.
40 or so years later, I finally purchased a pair of Georgio Brutini 80575's and, while I'm happy with them, I was wondering if anyone could suggest something better?

I am actually wearing a pair of boots similar to those right now. I am wearing them with a tux . I am a musician and just got home from playing a wedding..

How about a RM Williams with a Cuban heel? The boots are absolutely fantastic.

Wow, nice boot and nice catalog. There are a few styles that I just might be checking out, but I just paid my school taxes so my wife says I better wait a month.
I think I saw this model in a suede style but it might have been a woman's. I need the heal, I'm only 5'6". Help! Price is reasonable if the quality is what it appears to be. Thanks.

Quality is top notch.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I actually own a few pairs of cowboy boots - cowboy boots ROCK!
Beatle Boots are cool too but, unfortunately they have flat heals... I hate being being fussy!
Yes, indeed! The RM Williams boots are very nice! I like how they are made from fewer pieces of leather than the Georgio Brutini.
While searching the net, I found some cool Flamenco Boots that are similar to the RM Williams boot... excepting that, while the Flamenco has some killer heals, I believe that they may come with noisy taps?

To my mind "Beatle boots" always have Cuban heels as a distinguishing characteristic. Or maybe a Cuban style heel not as high as some other Cuban heels. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatle_boot But I admit that various sources on the web seem to not agree on this. Also, to me Beatle boots have zippered, not elastic sides, and they are always made of soft, thin leather (if shiny), or suede. Later, essentially the same boots were worn with a chiseled point toe. I am not sure what that variation is called.

The Beatles were not the only ones to wear this style of shoe. Dylan, for instance, wore them during his first tour of Britain.

Speaking of heels to gain some height, I wonder what Prince wears? I'm fairly short, too. But wearing boots with heels does run the risk of giving one a Prince kind of look. Not really what I am looking for. I own a pair of Beatle boots, but have found few times I wanted to wear them, except perhaps to a retro-ish rock concert. For one thing, the toes are pointy. I do not think we really have the kind of slacks that guys used to wear with them any more. I am sure not going for a bell bottom look, although Beatle boots were there before bell bottoms!

Chelsea boots, etc., are really a different thing, a different feel than Beatle boots. More versatile, I would think.

I stand corrected sir! The Beatle Boot does come equipped with Cuban heals.
As a matter of fact, the photo of the Beatle Boot in your above Wikipedia link is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the help Rob! :punk:

Beatle boot is just a chelsea boot (designed by Anello & Davide) with 1: a center seam (i.e. it's actually tri- or four-cut shoe, depending on a heelside construction method) and 2: a Cuban heel. However, the two-cut and even wholecut chelseas with Cuban heels are also usually called as Beatle boots.

John & George seem to have more heel ... Paul not much at all.

Again Paul ... maybe these are not even Chelseas ...

Shorter heels here?

... but ... but ... they'e the boots the Beatles are wearing. :confused1

Fun thread! I guess there was more than one kind of Beatle boot.

Here is what Bob Dylan wore in London in 1964. http://bobby-dylan.tumblr.com/post/29695979918/bob-dylans-boots I would have considered these Beatle boots, but I thought I knew more than I do!

Probably hard to get reall Anello & Davide in the States or at all for the average Mod kid. Not sue why Dylan would settle for less than the real thing!

It's always possible that he settled for more than the real thing - it isn't uncommon that the celebrities have one or more trusted shoemakers that make their footwear, on their personal lasts.

I think the Cuban heel looks its best on slim women in tight pants. And I do think Flamenco everytime I see a photo of a Cuban heeled boot by itself. But then there's the very masculine cowboy boot---so what do I know?:001_smile
