Crown Royal Canadian

I have grown more and more fond of Canadian Whisky lately. This Christmas I got a bottle of Crown Royal and just want to share in the enjoyment I had in sipping it. The stuff is absolutely fine. I find that Canadian Whisky has a light, clean, refreshing quality about it . . . not as heavy as the bourbon, or some of the single malt scotches I've been drinking. And this stuff . . . this Crown Royal, is nice and smooth. I recommend it.

I'm actually more of a scotch man but I generally prefer Canadian Club over Crown Royal, and it's a little cheaper as well. Another one that I really like is Tangle Ridge but I have no idea what it's availability is like outside Canada. As always, YMMV.

I've been sampling a few of the canadian's lately, so far I like 7 (especially with a little 7up :thumbup1: ) Canadian Club is pretty good, but IMO not as tasty. Next on my list is Crown Royal, but I'm unsure about what level to get, Black or regular? I've also been debating about trying some of the more premium levels of Seagrams VO and Canadian Club. Any thoughts? IMO I find that the more premium levels of bourbon are much more palatable for drinking straight, i.e. Jim Beam vs Woodford and wonder if the Canadians are the same. Currently I find that both 7 and Club are very nice with light sodas, i.e. 7up, ginger ale.

While I enjoy Crown Royal, I can't get past the stigma( around here at least) that it's the topshelf once in a lifetime whiskey of the redneck nation. Kind of like how Red Lobster is a gourmet seafood establishment. Imagine going to school your whole childhood with kids who toted Crown Royal purple drawstring bags as a badge of honor:tongue_sm I never buy the stuff, but I usually get gifted some at the holidays, this Christmas included. I always enjoy it, I think it's a fine whiskey. It just has a certain "Joe Dirt" feeling walking out of an Okie liquor store with it. That's just my hang up, if you like it, drink it.:thumbup1:

I am a Crown Royal guy as well. I understand that stigma, but I could really care less. I prefer Crown Royal Special Reserve, but I also have a bottle Crown Royal XR. I have tried many different whiskies, but I continue to come back to CR, and I always will.

Crown and 7 is one of my favorite cocktails. A smooth, quality whiskey(ive grown fond of ginger ale and vodka I must try a Crown and ginger ale!..thanks for the reminder to buy some Crown).

Oh and if you get a chance try Pendleton Canadian Whiskey(Its made in Oregon USA???) its really good.

I had a friend whose grandma used to cover her slippers with those purple bags so her slippers wouldn't wear out...:lol::lol:

I had never heard of Crown Royal combined with Ginger Ale . . . but thanks to the responses on this post I brought that concept onto my radar screen and tried it tonight and absolutely loved it . . What a perfect combination of taste, body, and sparkling refreshment. That is absolutely my new favorite cocktail combination.

I got a bottle of Crown Cask 16 for a co worker's wedding and man, that stuff is SO SMOOTH! instead of an alcohol bite at the end I tasted caramel candies! super surprised. That was straight out of the bottle at room temperature. I don't normally drink Crown for whatever reason but man from now on that is the only Crown I will ever drink.
I give it 5 thumbs up!
