Creed / Windsor - It's sublime

My 10 ml decant of Creed Windsor *finally* arrived this evening and I'm sucking in the scent of it from the back of my hand as I type this.

Now *THIS* is an example of scent craft. The recent Millésimes from Creed seem crude and heavy handed by comparison. Windsor is very refined, subtle and complex. Nothing loud about it - even the top notes don't scream. The mid-note of roses is surprisingly masculine and is beautifully blended with the orange and cedar base notes. Utterly unique in my experience, and I keep catching different aspects of the presentation as it dries down. Absolutely no trace of ambergris in this, nor any other heavy notes.

If citruses are light and orientals are heavy, this is in the mid to upper-mid range between the two, with a slightly warm tone. Not spicy, not floral - somewhere between the two. Quiet assurance. This would be THE scent to wear to a killer job interview.

Man, I could whiff this all night!

Unfortunately - and you just know where this is going - Cindy likes smelling rose-scented flowers and not rose-scented men. So I've already contacted the member that called first dibs and we'll see where it goes from there.

That is the best rose note I've encountered. It's like you're standing in front of rose bush in full bloom.

I'm a bit mixed on the opening notes, but when that rose kicks, it is "royal."

What else would you compare it to in terms of roses? I have a bottle and a half of C&S 88 to provide me with manly rosiness, but I could always be persuaded to go after something more esoteric and expensive.

I've smelled a lot of male rose scents...I can't think of anything. Dullah is pretty good with notes and has wide frag knowledge, maybe he'll weigh in here since he's cornered the market on Windsor. Some have said the rose note is similar to Le Labo Rose 31. I have that one too and don't quite get it as very similar.

It's quite unique. Very aloof and borderline arrogant scent along the lines of Blenheim Bouquet to me. (Not similar in scent, but the "attitude.") Perhaps a bit friendlier.

I don't get a lot of the cedar in it. But my nose is pretty dense. There's a lot going on in it. I don't know how much of Creed's "natural ingredients" hype I buy into, but I believe they pulled out a lot of stops on this one.

What good is manly rosiness without "a vile, degrading kind of sex that endangers your mortal soul"? Hammam Bouquet or nothing for me, thanks.

Wore it again today as well!

It was about the only thing I enjoyed about sitting through the 9 hours of job training today!

The closest and most similar rose I've come across is that of Le Labo Rose 31. It also seems to share the same green quality as Eau de Cartier Concentree.

And then there is an awesome accord that I will gladly mis-label as herbal toothpaste. Done incredibly tastefully, like Selection Verte.

I'm glad you like it. I like agreeing about these types of things!

Wow, I am completely intrigued. I sure like everything I am hearing about this scent. Even it if does not come with ""a vile, degrading kind of sex that endangers your mortal soul," "very aloof and borderline arrogant" sounds it is on the right track--a rose scent that does that, no less.

I am impressed. I understand, more or less why BB seems that way. I would say that K10 is along the same lines and I certainly understand why it seems arrogant and aloof. Really sounds like a home run for Creed. Good for it!

You took the words right out of my mouth. To me the opening is reminiscent of a top-shelf minty-citrusy-herbal mouthwash with a hint of alcohol bite to it, and the rose lurking just beneath.

I should add that the end of the dry down finally went into a rosy sandalwood-ish note on my skin and that I'm still smelling a hint of it on the back of my hand almost 9 hours after the initial application.

An delightful scent.

It has a rose presentation (I can't call it just a note) like no other that I've ever smelled in a male scent.

I vividly remember one better from my youth that a very wealthy aunt wore from one of the salons in nearby Beverly Hills, but I have no idea what it was or who made it. However, *that* one was very feminine while Windsor comes across to me as being undeniably masculine.

Oh, and it's too late to buy Windsor in anything except 50 ml atomizers directly from Creed ($405) or 10 ml decants from private holders. All 70 flacons of Windsor were sold out in days and our buddy Dullah grabbed FOUR of them. :117:

For what's it worth, the Windsor's that can still be purchased are $405.
They come packaged in a reusable $160 Creed leather atomizer. So basically it's $245 for 50ml of the juice; $160 for the atomizer.

They sort of force the atomizer on you in the 50ml size. Works to $4.90/ml.
People who bought the flacon at $605 paid about $2.42/ml for 250ml.

My way of looking at the 50 ml size is that you're paying $245. It's debatable whether or not the Creed atomizer is worth $160, but it is pretty nice.

I'm surprised to see that the atomizer is so expensive. I bought a flacon of Tabarome about a year and a half ago, and the Creed rep offered me what I imagine is the same atomizer for $100. It was leather, but at that time there was a choice of colors too.

Wearing this today...At first I thought it was inappropriate for work, but it kept calling to me every morning and finally won  I applied a few sprays to my chest and one to my neck. It's a cold day here, 26 degrees and snowy. There is something in the way the cold air carries this that totally transforms it. Walking into the office I was getting wafts of this courtesy of a very cold breeze. What a beautiful composition! As of writing this, it has been nearly 10 hours since application. It has dried down to a magnificent boozy rose. This has stayed close to the skin and only appears at just the right times staying very mysterious to those around me.

Damn...I wish i had a sample. Anyone want to do some trading for some Vintage Tabarome?

Stopped in @ Saks this evening after reading about this stuff & sprayed some on my wrist.

Wow, you weren't kidding. It's amazing. And amazingly expensive. Like you, I find myself sniffing my skin over & over. "Boozy rose" seems to sum it up very nicely. Looking forward to seeing where this fragrance goes over the next 2-3 hours.

Thanks for the recommend!
