Cracked razor in a khaki set still usable?

I recently came into possesion of a WWI khaki set, but the handle seems to have a minor crack at the top of the tube.

but still have a question - are there any reasons NOT to use the razor that I don't know about?

As long as the head does not move around and is snug, you should be fine.

I've got an old style Gillette with just such a crack, and it works fine.

IIRC the war production models were more prone to handle cracks due to metal rationing during the war and hence sub standard metal was used.

All but one of my 3-piece Gillettes have cracked handles, seems to come with the territory. All are great shavers, and one is just a superb shaver (Deluxe New Belmont or Bostonian, super heavy/thick bottom plate). I tend to shop for just-sub-mint examples than are clean and very pretty, but still suitable as daily shavers without obsessing.

The cracks seem stable, and related to basic metallurgy rather than wear or over-tightening. Mine haven't grown larger over time with usage, and I twist the handles up pretty snug.
