Real cowboys have a mustache to take care of that.Never had any luck with cowboy coffee. Damn grinds never sink, at least not enough of them to suit me.

IIRC (which I probalby don’t) an article said to put in a little cold water before pouring a cup because that will cause the grounds to sink. ?? Also, egg shells will help settle the grounds and remove some bitterness.
Or take a regular coffee filter, add grounds, tie it off with twine to make a “tea bag” and brew the coffee.

Actually, back in my Army days...we made coffee in either 10 or 15gl pots 'in the field'.
Now, about the closest the Mrs. and I get to 'Cowboy Coffee' is using our percolator.

I put a pinch of salt in my coffee pot every day too.Roger that on the pinch of salt!!
Tabasco sauce and a little Ripple helps take out the fishy taste.

Apparently. I know nothing about ripple.Ripple does that to a body.
Made cowboy coffee today just for kicks. Top of the stove in a sauce pan and it turned out great. Can’t wait for camping.
