Cortadito Anyone?

Almost 85% of my coffee consumption ends up being a cortadito. They are so addicting and so good. Now I know my set up is not much, but with some modifications my results for personal use are good with me. I just wanted to share, so anyone else enjoy them?

What's your setup? I have been gaining great interest in coffee lately, I just don't want to invest my time and money into roasting.

1 pot made w/ bustello
1 can evap milk
3/4 c sugar

take the 1st liquid that appears, couple of TS and add to sugar; whip w/ a spoon; add the rest of the coffee then the warm milk; can add reg milk too if desired;

You will laugh bud, mr coffee personal espresso machine about $30 , mr coffee grinder $20, custom tamper $25. Ive learned how to work this machine just right and it works well for me. I modified the basket, and figured out how to get decent grinds from the grinder. If you are interested in more details shoot me a PM.

There are many nice methods of brewing coffee besides espresso. A nice cup from a french press is also very nice.

Oh nice, I make mine a bit differently.

1 single shot espresso in a 2 oz cup, 1 oz steamed milk, 1.5 teaspoon sugar.
I froth up the steamed milk and sugar then at the end of the espresso shot I stir everything together and enjoy :biggrin:

Come to Miami. You can pick up excellent cortaditos just about anywhere for $1. In the cuban coffee world, they are a staple.

Your recipe is spot on, although you don't need to be precise. I found that sometimes I want a light one, and sometimes a dark one. Definitely give evaporated milk a try. Ten times better.

Another thing to try is to have the sugar in the cup and let the espresso drip into it. It sort of melts the sugar before dissolving it. Makes a subtle difference.

Alej.

Ive tried the evo milk but was a bit too sweet for me.

Thank you for the tips sir! :biggrin:

These are popular amongst Cuban people, nice espresso (with Bustelo coffee) with the added feature of frothing the milk for the cortados. (Around $60)

we use that stove top twist apart metal pot;

when u whip the sugar, it'll resemble peanut butter;

we've come up w/ an Adkins version - use heavy whipping cream & splenda, just less splenda;
