Good question. The contests numbers are just references numbers for Mods.

Actually, there has been about 20 contests.

W.F. Truefitt opened his gentlemen's salon in 1805, and the 1805 has been named after that occasion. T&H received a royal warrant in 1911.
A pomade pot by H.P. Truefitt was found with HMS Titanic artifacts.
Truefitt & Hill is the world's oldest operating barbershop.
