What's new

company revenues

Hi guys and gals,

So what company would have the number 1 sales in the wetshave industry"excluding gillette". I would think maybe E&J cause of their soap lines and razors?
can you guys think of a top 5 revenue wize ?

The correct answer to that question probably is in India. According to Gillette, India has more traditional shavers than any other country by far. This is why we can buy blades so cheaply. Soaps that are marketed into the developing world are likely sold in large multiples of the volume that comes out of any of the premium British brands.

ahh so E&J's revenue would be nothing compared to all the shaving companys in india i guess.

Seems to me, the only way to answer this is to check the financial reports. EJ does about £1,000,000 in sales a year. AoS does around $18,000,000. Bic did $160,000,000 in shaving product sales just in the US. Schick did $520,000,000 on shaving worldwide. The whole world together probably doesn't equal Gillette's sales. Theoretically, they have 75-80% market share, which is probably around $2,000,000,000. Those are the shaving category numbers, not total company sales. That's all I have the patience for.

Then again, who knows whether a kitchen knife or deodorant ends up in those numbers.

Holycrap, those numbers are something. I didnt think schick was pulling that kind of money. but thank you for those numbers thats what i was looking for.

Outside of the cartridge razor, and canned goo market, in the USA the products would be:

-Van Der Hagen (maker of VDH Deluxe). Their presence in Wal-Mart, and some other big chain drug stores would make them a leader in shear volume of sales.
-Combe Incorporated (maker of Williams Mug Soap, and Aqua Velva). Same reason as Van Der Hagen
-Kiss My Face Moisture Shave (while not sold in the likes of Walmart, still more mass market than say the likes of Edwin Jagger or Muhle).

I don't think that 500,000 pucks of Williams per year is a an accurate number anymore. Williams seems to have lost at least a couple of bigger customers in the past year (notably Kroger, and in my area recently Meijer).

I am not sure how Combe would know VDH's sales numbers either, and considering that VDH is sold at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and Rite Aid that 250,000 pucks per year number seems way too low.

Yeah. Who knows? That was just an FYI.
We could guess forever. I prefer
