Comments / thoughts on Edison Nouveau Premiere Ebonite LE at Goulet Pens

Well, I'll be hitting the big 50 later this month, and what pops up on the Goulet site but a Limited Edition Edison Nouveau Premiere Ebonite. Coincidence or fate?! I like the looks of it, and like the thought of getting an ebonite pen. I'm not into collecting, so the limited edition aspect of it isn't really important to me. Being able to swap out nibs also seems like a good feature of the Edisons.

Don't want to turn this into a "what pen for me" thread, rather just general comments on this Limited Edition version of the Nouveau Premiere. Thanks.

I have never owned or used a Premiere so I cannot comment on that particular pen. I did want the Black one before they discontinued it.

What I can say is that Brian Grey turns a pretty darn good pen! And if you have never had an Ebonite pen, it is a great material! It feels solid, yet not overly heavy. The Ebonite also gets warm as you hold it, absorbing the heat from your hand. Ebonite also has a smell to it, just to let you know, but will fade a bit over time. The smell does not bother me at all.
Brian's nibs write smooth and all of his pens can be set up as eye-droppers if you want.

The Ebonite they picked for the LE is very nice. If you can swing the price, I do not think you will be disappointed.

The B&B Glenmont LE is made from ebonite (so is the B&B Herald Grande I believe).
The Edison pens in Ebonite are very nice. It's a wonderful material to hold. Warm and comfortable.
I have no doubt that you'll like the ebonite for it's feel.

It will be money well spent.

I have several Ebonite pens...a couple vintage and a couple modern ones. I also have a non-Ebonite LE Edison. To my mind, the combination of Brian Gray's workmanship and the "organic" quality, feel, and look of Ebonite (hard rubber) is just about perfect. If you can handle the cost, I don't think you'll be disappointed. And even if you were, I have no doubt that you could sell the Edison for close to what you paid for it.

Secret Option B: Wait for the 2013 B&B LE. I have no knowledge about if/when it will be offered, but the past two have been ebonite and, imo, an excellent value. There's only so much of 2013 left, after all.

I like the Macassar ebonite used for the Goulet's LE, but the pen's cap looks a little:

Coneheads - too funny! Yes, I think you nailed it. I found myself thinking, for an incremental $50 (nothing to sneeze at, but not unreasonable) I could get an ebonite Morgan, or Beaumont, or Collier (if I understand the custom capability of Edison) and I think the shape of those, based simply on pictures, seem better to me. Hard to judge though just from pictures and, reading through the reviews, most all are very positive on the Premiere. The macassar ebonite material really looks good.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I have never heard a bad word mentioned about Edison pens or customer service- all who have dealt with them seem happy with the purchase.

I'm sure it's a lovely pen. My Morgan is wonderful. You really can't go wrong with an Edison.
