colognes make me sneeze

All the colognes I have ever tried, and the perfumes my ex wore all really aggravated my sinuses and made me sneeze. Im assuming theres something thats in most fragrances that Im allergic to. I enjoy the scent of a nice light clean fragrance but Ive never found anything that didnt bother my allergies. Aftershave never does this just colognes and perfumes. Any suggestions? Any economical sample packs that anybody can recommend?

+1 to Gendarme. I have met the designer/owner and he is loaded with allegies to fragrances. He dveloped Gendarme to have a fragrance for people like himself.

He periodically makes appearances at stores launching his product and being in the cologne department he has to load himself up with all kinds of meds and inhalers to get through the appearance.

Are these sold at department stores or available on the internet alone?

Gendarme is all over the place, but inconsistent. i.e. I couldn't tell you which store might carry it your area.

Here in LA, he has his own store. He's also now in Barneys. I see it periodically all over the place. Cologne carts and my corner drugstore.

It's technically a niche scent and a small company. I would guess he fights for distribution all over the place.

FYI: He makes several very similar scents:

Gendarme (cologne strength)
Gendarme V (EdT with some vetiver)
Gendarme 20 (EdT with some lavender)
Gendarme EdP strength

The EdP strength is fairly new I gather. One of the knocks on the Gendarmes is lack of longevity. I think he's trying to address it with an EdP strength.

Personally, I have the Gendarme 20 and like it a lot, especially in hot weather. It smells like a freshly ironed shirt, and it lasts a fair while (5-6 hours). The Gendarmes are one of the rare scents that you probably could not over apply. They're the ultimate in a fresh smell.

No, I'm experienced. I have a fragrance AD, and I've often run off to a store here in L.A. that the official website said carried their product to be disappointed.

They're all good. Most people tend to think the "20" has more legs.

I haven't tried the EdP but it sounds intriguing.

I'm facing the same sensitivity problem right now. (I also don't have a reaction to aftershaves, at least not to any significant degree.) So, any recommendations beyond Gendarme? Thanks.

Gendarme is the only one I know of that more or less bills itself as hypo-allergenic.

You may have a sensitivity to certain ingredients commonly used in EdT.
I believe those same ingredients are in AS, but in smaller concentrations.

It's a tough one, and trial and error may be the only way to find out what works.

I created Gendarme so I could wear it (my allergy's are outrageous) but I don't advertise it as Hypo-allergenic. I want people to approach it cautiously, because someone could have a reaction . If you are hypersensitive don't go to Gendarme 20. It does contain lavender and although rarely irritates, it might.
Thanks to all who spread the about our concept.

D'OH! Sorry Toppper. But it is designed to be less likely to trigger allergies, yes?

I'm due for some more of your great soap. See you at the Gendarmerie.

So I visited the Gendarme Web site, but I couldn't find the 20, though it's listed in the left-hand menu bar. Same with something called Mojo; nowhere to be found. As for the rest, can I safely assume that all of the fragrance products on the site (Gendarme, Gendarme Green, Sky and Grabazzi) are designed for allergy-prone noses? It's worth a shot, because small sample vials are offered.
