colognes dosage

I ordered some 4711 from fragrancex (free shipping and all), but now I don't know what to do with a cologne.

Do you use it like an aftershave (covering your face)? Or is it really just like a perfume (a few drops just for scent)?

The 4711 is probably the lightest cologne you can ever hope to use. Splash it all over, it will fade in a few minutes. There are other ways to apply cologne, but the 4711 is more of a "splash"- that is, it's not very strong, so apply liberally to your face, neck and chest.

It's definitely one you splash everywhere, but if you have dry skin it will probably dry it out...

I've become a total convert to sprayers. Now, I never apply EdT to my face (that is aftershave territory), rather I spray it across my chest and a few pulse points. Check out posts from Sue.....she really knows about this stuff.

I've noticed exactly what's been said about the dryness. I have oily skin, but didn't really enjoy that dry feeling.

I'll give it another shot, I did enjoy that lime scent.
