Cologne Quiz--Part 2

For those of you all who have tried both Tabac and Speick colognes, which did you prefer? I've ruled out the 4711 (since my Mom wears it:001_huh:) I love the Speick AS, but have never smelled anything Tabac. Would it be weird to wear "non-matching" AS and Colognes? Like I said, I'm usually just an AS guy, so I don't need to worry about this usually! Sometimes I'll splash on some Old Spice AS and use it as "cologne" though. Thanks!

They're two very different scents IMO. I like the Speick EDC...it's very bright and fresh, consists of only 3 notes (orange, bergamot, and Speick), but only lasts about an hour. On the other hand it's impossible to offend anyone with it, no matter how much you spray on. I've gotten mixed reactions from it. People say it "smells good", "fresh" or "like a gym." Strangely enough, I agree with the latter...the background scent of it has that 70's gymnasium character. But it's still a very fresh summer scent.

Tabac EDC on the other hand is a very different beast. Personally I think it smells only somewhat like the soap, which is a good thing for me since I don't like the soap's strong floral note. It opens with a very creamy orange-neroli before moving to airy aldehydes and then the wonderful drydown -- musky spice, with a bit of leather and a very light floral. It's incredibly masculine, IMO, and very unique. The only thing I don't like about it is that it it dries very close to the skin for the middle notes and doesn't "unfurl" its complexity again until you sweat or add moisture. I guess it's old fashioned in that way, but I wish that it would act more like a normal cologne and evolve in stages.

If you wear Speick AS you shouldn't have a problem with either scent. Speick AS dissipates very quickly so it won't interfere with the Tabac; in fact, Tabac's topnotes of bergamot and Neroli would complement it quite well for however long it lasts.

Hope this helps.
