I recently picked up a few vintage Gillette razors off of ebay. They look pretty grungy. Any tips for cleaning them up? I didn't want use something that would strip the finish.
Scrubbing Bubbles seem to be a popular option here but so far I have found that taking your razors into a jewelry store with an ultrasonic cleaner is your best bet. Most jewelry stores will clean your razor for free or a few dollars at the most.
Scrubbing bubbles plus a tooth brush works for me. I spray the solution on, let it sit for a while, and then scrub it off. I do this a few times and when it is clean soak it in isopropyl alcohol or barbicide to sanitize it.
I have been using scrubbing-bubble type soap, then adding very hot microwaved water. It does work, but not given to half measures, I just ordered a 170 watt ultrasonic cleaner. It won't be used just for razors.
