Citizen Nighthawk on small wrist

I got great answers on my other thread, so I have another small request. Does anyone here have a small wrist and wear a Citizen Nighthawk? I'm in LOVE with this watch with the black band but it looks really large. I'm 5'4" and skinny/fit, so I'm afraid this will look huge on my wrist. Does it wear as large as it looks?

A picture would be greatly appreciated.

What size is your wrist? Looks like the Nighthawk is around 42mm wide case minus the crown, and about 47mm lug to lug. I'd say if you have a 7" or so wrist, you should be ok.

I have small wrists too. I have never tried this watch on; but I avoid watches that are this big (47mm). However, I see them on skinny people all the time. A big watch definitely stands out more on a skinny wrist than on a big one. Do you have other watches that big?

I don't. I think my largest watch is a 42mm, which fits me pretty well because it wears kind of small so it's OK. I think it'll be OK, but it just looks really large in pictures.

I'm not sure what size my wrist is. I don't have a tape measure at work, so I'll check at home.

Does anyone know if you can just buy the one with the metal band and switch it out with the leather one? I'm not a fan of metal bands.

Yep, you can swap the strap

Given the fashion trends I don't think you should feel out of place even if the watch looks a little big. Everyday comfort is a different issue, but sounds like it will probably work you. If this was my favorite watch style, I would be tempted to purchase it from some vendor that allowed a try out for 1-3 days with the option of returning it for whatever reason.

I'm also very skinny with small wrists. Pesonal opinion? Don't wear anything over 38mm. That is just me though. If you like the watch a lot, find one with a similar style. If you are just wearing it casually it may be fine, but day to day it would look out of place imo. I usually think that people with huge watches in comparison to their wrist sizes are trying to somehow show off and they look gaudy (not implying that you are doing the same, but honestly that is how it comes across to me when I see a watch larger than the wrist)

Just my prediction, but I think large watches will be fashionable for a while. I've noticed too many ladies wearing men's wrist watches or at least watches far too big for their wrists. And if these next generation Dick Tracy watches succeed, the norms for watch size will have more pressure to increase.

I also have small wrists, but I've found that if a watch is thin enough, then a large-ish case (like the Citizen) is more tolerable.
My Citizen Eco-Drive atomic has a larger diameter face than my G-Shock, but it wears much more comfortably and looks "smaller" because it is so thin.

On women wearing men's watches... some of that could be their desire to actually READ the watch, rather than treat it as a bracelet.
I just imported a "Happy Flight" Citizen Solar Atomic for my wife from Japan. The face is large enough to read, and it's a "set it and forget it" which is important for me (so I don't have to reset her watch twice every year).

Thank you for all the replies (and the link to the band which I WILL own when I buy this watch). I think you're right, Rich. I have a watch that is the same size as the G-shock I bough from Amazon (it's a 40mm) and it definitely wears smaller.
