This was my Christmas present from my girlfriend daughter. She made it by hand in shop class. The edge is horrible and there are grind marks all over. But it was the best present ever. It was made by her for me. Handmade presents are the absolute best because there was thought put into it.

That is the best present ever! All it needs is a good edge put on it. The pride of ownership in that knife because of where it came from is beyond value.

I suspect it's made from mild steel in a high school shop. I doubt it will ever hold a good edge. But you are are correct, where it came from is beyond any value. I'll check with the shop teacher to see if he gets good steel when kids make knives. If it's good steel I'll put and edge on it.
