Christmas Day Drinks

Just wondering what this board is going to enjoy the day with.

After a couple of pints and a couple of single malts in the pub

It will be either a Jean Luc Colombo Crozes Hermitage or Chateau Gallais Bellevue Medoc with the turkey and then........................

Grahams 1977 Vintage Port with the Stilton:thumbup:

I do like a whisky mac when it's cold out (and foggy!) Has to be made with Crabbie's ginger wine though. Stone's won't do. Any cooking whisky is OK.

For straight whiskies, mostly anything from Isla.

Beers are the main choice for me though, always have been. Not a wine fan.

I think we're going to make up a bunch of Tom & Jerry's this year. I've never had them but hear they are wonderful. I suppose they'd give you a roaring headache too if you over imbibe.

"Got Shoes?"
Here is my setup today:

After a hot shower:

1. A Smithwicks (just one)
2. Johnnie Gold (definitely two, maybe three)
3. A Silver Oak Alexander Valley '02 (with dinner)
4. Dolce Late Harvest Wine '01 (after dinner)
5. Proraso a/s (to wake me up)

*having 25 familly members over today so I may have to repeat step 2 after dessert

Is that Rittenhouse 21yr their 80 or 100 proof? I must have seen 3-4 different looking bottles of their stuff in Kentucky, and have been hesitant to pick it up as I don't know what exactly is the version everyone seems to rave about, and don't want to roll the dice on such pricey bottles (for my budget).

"Eat drink and be merry" knows no creed or season. My boss gave me (not Jewish) a Hanukkah card this year, so I guess I've got to keep acting the part if I want to take Yom Kippur off. Any tips?

In a strange twist of fate, I'm drinking very fresh homemade Coquito (A Puerto Rican drink, a lot like egg nog but in a coconut milk base).

Good stuff.

Mimosas tomorrow. :wink2:

Happy hohos!

Crozes Hermitage plays second fiddle to Hermitage, and deservedly so, but it offers some excellent values for Rhones. Colombo is a good choice, as are the wines of Colombier and Alain Graillot, his La Guiraude in particular. Jaboulet's Crozes-Hermitage, Thalabert won't ever be mistaken for their flagship Hermitage, La Chapelle (I have the '90) but it's a fine wine.

Grahams tends to make port in a slightly sweeter, fruitier style, and their '77 was a blockbuster. Believe it or not, it's still a bit on the young side. Those vintage ports just seem to go on forever.

Some great choices! :thumbup1:

I might spike the eggnog with some rum, and probably a pinot grigio with our Lowcountry Shrimp boil tomorrow.

Or maybe just a Thomas Creek Red Ale. (Local stuff...Greenville, SC microbrewery.)
