Chipping Semogue

I have a small chip in my 1460 and it's been there for about a year. It hasn't gotten any worse since I never soak the handle, and I'm a little extra careful when using that brush.

I now will only buy unpainted handles or the acrylic ones. The paint chips way too easily. If your 1520 gets any worse and you really like the brush I'd spring for a 620 which has the same knot, but with an acrylic handle. Chipping problem solved.

Thanks for the replies. I meant the 1305. The green paint continues chipping. Maybe I should get the 620.

My 1305 has the chips also ... and every used one I've seen offered on BST has some chips as well.

The chipped paint is just the nature of the beast. It doesn't bother me at all, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another 1305 in the future, knowing full well that it will wind up chipped before too long.

Is the 620 the same knot? Which ones are nice with an unpainted handle? Thanks for all the replies.

My favourites:

Semogue 1800 - wooden handle, a little more backbone than the 1305. Great brush for soaps.
Semogue 830 - 10% more dense than the 1305. Acrylic handle.

Check out the 610 and 820 models also, with acrylic handles. :)

A chipped handle is nothing more than a step in breaking in the brush. (I agree with oversaturn about the 1800, it's a remarkable brush having a mixture of the soft premium bristle along with the coarser, high backbone extra bristle.

I've got a crack in my 1305 that came up. I emailed the people i bought it from and even Semogue, but starting to wonder if it's really a big deal. Almost thinking of gently applying a little bit of clear nail polish to keep the crack from spreading. I hate to make a fuss but i don't want to have it lose the finish and paint completely!
