Most of my favorite champagnes don't fit your price range, but take a look at the Domaine Chandon offerings from California. That is what I have lined up for New Years Eve. Very reasonably priced (~$15) and very good bubbly. It is the guys from Moet&Chandon operating out of a California vinyard.

Or try the Chandon/Green Point offerings from Yarra Valley, Australia. Again it's the Moet & Chandon folks's wine from their aussie vinyards. I had a tour of their estate and some samples when I was there, and the wines were great.

I have no idea. I just spent $38 on what I thought is a cheap champagne. I wanted another one that is $109, but I decided against it.

I just saw on TV where Brittney Spears is going to open a $100,000 bottle of champagne on New Year's Eve. Somebody is insane.

If you were willing to step up to say $30/$35 you could get some really decent Non-Vintage French Champagne. I myself am partial to Bollinger although it's not to everyone's taste, their NV special Cuvee can be had for $35

Their Grand Annee and RD vintage champagnes are amoung my favorites.

California "Champagnes" (If it isn't from France, particularly the Champagne region it is not actually Champagne and is just sparkling wine, that's not to say they aren't any good, they just aren't Champagne) to check out other than Chandon would be, Iron Horse and Gloria Ferrer.

You also could consider giving a Spanish Cava a go.... or some Prosecco.

OMG, it's Rob Lowe. I knew it. You were awesome on Wayne's World.

Drappier Blanc De Blancs is just fantastic. If you are willing to spend about $30 this is just a great Champagne. You can buy it online for under $30 a few places. I would highly recommend spending the extra $10 and trying this out.

Waaah! :crying: Ours is lost. I am 100%sure that I put it in the car when we left the store, and I am 99% sure I brought it from the car to the kitchen. But now, we can't find it.

I must second this recommendation. I've always found the Chandon offerings to be both good tasting and good value.

This New Year's Eve though I'm going to be enjoying (I hope it's good) a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut, which came in at the best value this year-free.

I wish that Bolly was $35 over here, it's usually about £28 ($53)

I've just had a 100% Pinot Meunier from the small Trudon estate for £14 ($26)
Vey full with no sharp edges (Noel Trudon Is an assistant cellarmaster at Louis Rorderer) but I don't know if it's available over in the states.

There's always "Quartet" by Louis Rorderer when it comes to Californian sparklers

This year I have a blanc de noirs from Chandon, so I'll try to give a review after New Years. Unfortunately I am yet again fighting a cold, so my taste buds aren't as good as they normally are.

For pricier champagnes, my favorite is the Veuve Demi-Sec offering, as well as the Grand Dame.

That is a bit steep for their NV, Where abouts are you? if in London Corney & Barrow have it for £25.67 ($50) saves you a little. Check out www.wine-searcher.com btw, a great tool for finding reasonable (or at least the best) price on the wine you're after.

Look on the bright side, some wines may be more expensive but you can get a heck of a lot more than we can here in the U.S.
