Catch and Release: Anyone Interested In...

Hello B&B

Starting this thread to see if anyone has interest in razors available to me locally that I don't have interest in myself. The first two items are:

  1. Unused travel tech, silver colored, "cardboard blade," case included, very pretty. Local store asking $30.00 USD
  2. GEM open comb micromatic, silver colored, in brown bakalite case. Razor in good condition, case in very good condition. Local store asking $30.00 USD

Figured I'd post here to see if anyone is interested in these items. If you are, please PM me and if you'd like I will return to the store at first opportunity and take pictures and/or purchase the razor. "Buyer" pays actual cost plus actual shipping and not a penny more.

Please feel free to post here if you see similar opportunities available to you locally. I'd rather see the razors in B&B hands than unknown hands

In the same store as those previous two razors:

  • Yardley Box Set - Shaving soap in a bowl, looks unused... edt, perhaps an aftershave, and what I assumed were bars of bath/hand soap. Vendor was asking $50.00

This first "set" is a Old Type Combination case, canisters and one of two blade boxes. I can't tell if the blade box is correct or not. The razor is a common bar handle NEW. If the case's condition is nice then it may be worth $15-$20 and the NEW may be worth around $15-$20. But, combined, they are no where near the asking price of $65.

Do you have any idea what the price is on the Wilkinson Sword set? Does it have the strop and the silver piece which holds the razor on top of the strop in the case? It appears there are seven blades, which makes sense for a seven day set. Can you verify that the seven blades correspond to the seven DIFFERENT days of the week. Sometimes these sets contain a filler blade to replace a lost one. Each blade should be labeled with a weekday name.

Here's and example of a complete set with strop.

Complete sets can run anywhere from $75-$150 depending upon condition.

Looks like either $40, or $400 possibly on the Wilkinson set. Let me be the first to say that if it's complete and in halfway decent condition I'm interested in it

edit: That tag is for another item, not the razor set. Looking forward to seeing the asking price from the local vendor.

The Wilkinson set had all the blades and a leather belt and other stuff stored under the razor, $75 was the asking price

That then could be a very decent price for what is considered a collectible set. You will find, however, that this model has very unique blades that are much more delicate than your typical wedge blade. The owner of the set I pictured doesn't allow the blades to be removed from the holder in the case for fear of damaging them. He said it is the only set he has that he has never used.
