I was intrigued by an Ebay listing and made the purchase. The Mock Tortoise handle might be the main thing that caught me. It is similar to Faux Horn, but darker and in good light has some green notes in it. I was also curious about Grey Badger.
Trying to research about the company and the brush I have not been able to learn much. They are still in business, but today they are more into fragrances than anything else. What few references I have found are only for brushes with a similar knot but none other with a Mock Tortoise handle.
It seems to have light use. I shampooed it then test lathered before shaving with it. It lathers like a monster. It has a bit of scritch to it, but not objectionably so, mostly when somewhat splayed. I think it is a keeper.
Does anyone here have more insight about Caswell-Massey shaving brushes? I know it is made in England, but I have no idea of when it was marketed or anything else about them.
