Care for wooden soap bowls

I just got D.R.Harris Arlington with the wooden bowl, I'm wondering being a face lather and shower shaver, how would the bowl hold up in the shower shave process. My better judgement tells me to shave without the bowl soap in hand but why would they put shaving soap in a container that would not hold up in a wet environmen? Any thoughts?

Moist is different than wet. My DR Harris soap bowls held up fine for shaving, but I would be surprised if leaving them in the shower didn't destroy them.

Arlington went into an Old Spice mug. Wouldn't want that in the shower, either, though. Might try a little rubbermaid or Tupperware type container, or just move the puck back to the bowl outside the shower.

+1 i highly doubt they were thinking most gents would shave in the shower. At the sink and a bit of moisture in the bathroom is fine, but not in the shower.

I do not know how the wood is treated, so please take this advice with some caution, I rub some oil in to the wood occasionally so it does not dry out.
This this prevents splitting and cracking.
I have a good number of wooden kitchen bowls and they have lasted over 20 years despite plenty of use.
