New Shower Shaver Convert

I've been wet shaving fairly consistently since 2013 and would never go back to the canned creams and expensive cartridge razors. I've always been an after-shower shaver, since I get to take my time and really savor the enjoyment of shaving in the traditional way. Plus, I would only have to shave once every other day or every two days with my previous job. I've recently started a new career and am now required to be clean shaven every day, which overall, isn't a bad thing, but face wasn't used to it in the beginning. My on-duty shifts are now 12-14 hours and sometimes when I get home, I just want to shower and rest as soon as possible.

Lately, I just don't have the energy to come home, shower, get my set up ready, and spend the 20 minutes doing the standard three pass shave, and then clean up. So, I decided to try wet shaving while in the shower to save some time and its been a great experience. I bought a fogless mirror and small shower caddy stand off Amazon and its been a game changer for me. I preload my bowl with a dollop of cream, bring out my Maggard brand synthetic since it doesn't have to soak like my Omega Boar, get my Rockwell 6S loaded with a fresh blade, and hop in that hot shower. I take the 5 minutes to do my full body scrub, getting my stubble nice and soft as I do this, and proceed to do a two pass shave with some minor touchups. The entire process takes 15 minutes and I'm left with a near BBS every time with almost zero irritation and razor burn. I get out the shower, dry off, wipe my face down with some witch hazel, slap on some balm or splash and I am good to go until the next night's shower.

Anyone else a Shower Shaver and have some positive experiences with that method?

Sounds like a big waste of water. Silly ... a good shave can be done with about a quart of water.
People in the drought stricken West Coast can't run our showers for over a few minutes.

Not everyone lives in a drought-prone area. Also, many shower heads nowadays have a pause feature to save water. In addition to that, I've installed a ball valve just ahead of my shower head for a complete shutoff without changing the temperature setting. I doubt that I use significantly more water that way than with a separate shave at the sink.

100%. I should I mentioned that - I normally don’t keep the water running the entire time. I either turn it off or run it at a trickle while shaving. Thank you for pointing that out

I don’t see the point. (for me)

Turning off the water and lathering in the shower is the same as jumping out and start lathering 45 seconds later in the sink with the same wet face.

The hair saturation is the same, the only difference is the rinsing and clean up, shower being faster of course.

But if it suits you, that’s what matters.

Shaving in the shower is great and I don't do it enough. I find it relaxing having the hot water on my back while shaving running the hot water out so my wife gets the cold water.

I've been a shower shaver for most of my life. Yes it uses more water, but I get such a better shave it's worth it. And since I only shave every 2-3 days the other days I'm in and out of the shower quickly it offesets the shave days.

There is another difference. If you drop your razor whilst shaving over the sink, it probably ends up in the sink. If you drop your razor while standing in the shower, there's a chance it ends up hitting your naked foot and cutting it....or something else.

I know it's unlikely to do any serious damage, but even so it's something I would rather avoid.

I started shaving in the shower for a year I believe. At first, just to see if it was easier or not. I shaved outside the shower maybe 5-10 times in the last year and I’m a everyday shaver.

The clean up is a lot quicker. I also have one of those valves to shut the water.

I can shave without a mirror but I’m still using one.

I do not rinse or wet my shaving soap. I found that it extends the life of the soap a lot. You can do the same if you shower at the sink.
