What's new

Can someone tell me if this is a variant of a Bostonian?

Hey everyone, I bought this on the bay recently--it's what looks like a bar-handled New Standard, but made in Canada and in a Bostonian case. It doesn't look like a Bostonian, but I was wondering if there were Canadian variants of the Bostonian that looked like this. If not, maybe it's just a mismatched razor/box combo? In any case, even though it's not perfect, it cleaned up real nice:

Most likely a mismatch. There were NEW-style Bostonian sets, but they used a different case: no riser effect.

There is an outside chance that Montreal had some leftover New Improved Bostonian cases, and used them with NEW razors. However this particular NEW has a 1932 patent date, and they should not have been making those cases after about 1929. So I think a mismatch is more likely.

I have a New Improved Bostonian in the same riser case. I also have a New SC. The razor you have sure looks like my New SC.

Looks like a mismatch to me. I had the same experience with a Richwood OS, and a NOS New bar handle LC in an Aristocrat case.

I love the case--it's so cool. I've never had a riser case before. Looks so classy when you open it up and are presented with such a beautiful razor!
