What's new

Can I fix this fatboy.

or should I give it the warriors death at the shooting range?

I am hoping this is an easy fix and not something I have to take apart the fatboy but I am here to listen so please tell me how I can fix this. I have searched and I have seen examples but nothing as extreme as mine.....here are the pics below. I would love it if someone could make or link me to a video....I have a horrible time reading but I am a pro if I can watch someone doing it....ill take anything right now though

I tried to get all angles....sorry for fuzzy photos, I used my cell cam.... beware....

If you are talking about the slant on the safety bar in picture #1, just use a small screwdriver to gently bend it parallel, that may fix the picture #2 issue also

Been there, done that. If you don't want to try it I'll take it off your hands :)

Screwdriver works but very dangerous. Shoelace (cap removed) threaded through safety bar and very slowly, carefully and in small movement finessed into place works great. It's good to have a reference razor to get the right gaps but there are plenty of photos online. They are easy enough to disassemble and you do not have to fully disassemble to be able to clean, oil and make good as new. I don't think you need a disassemble here but the shoestring is your friend to get aligned.

I found that suggestion on here some time a few moons ago and can't remember who had said it but credit goes to them. No marks, lots of control.

Which ever method you choose, your goal is to make everything symmetrical and parallel again. Take your time and do everything slow and in small steps. Find a part like the bottom flat area of the adjusting plate and use that plane (red line) as a reference to adjust A&B, then work on C. Then do the same looking at the end. Slowly open and close the doors. See what contacts to start opening the doors. Adjust those parts so that they make contact simultaneously causing both doors to start to open together.

For adjusting safety bar, you can put a piece of flat wood on lower side, and then very carefully hit the wood, repeat as necessary. Thjis way you won't dammage plating. With screwdriver chances are bigger. Razor, ofc, on surface like carpet. Set at 1. Worked for me. But, I think you also have problem with doors, one side looks whacked, lower than other

Well tried to twist it with a flat head and it hasnt worked so well but it did leave me with a couple tiny gouges that definitely adds to character..its too bad I really wanted to try this one out before I bought another one.

You should have taped the edges with some electric tape. This would prevent any marring of the edges. I use a screw driver all the time even on rare Toggles or other adjsustables. I just gently twist it to the direction that sets it straight. The brass is unbelievably strong and can be twisted with out any worries that it may break. However, be gentle and just progress wth the twisting as needed. ...DONT FORGET TO TAPE THE EDGES!

Thanks alex I wasnt thinking straight. Ah well ss long as I csn get it back to normal I can pull thr trigger on buying another one if its as good as the slim

Tried it, not working unfortunately. just bending other parts. Guess I gotta wait and find someone with spare parts to use.

What are doing? Is the razor damaged in other parts too? It should not be hard to realign unless it has internal or other damage.

im literally at the point where I am twisting and it is bending/flexing the doors. meanwhile no noticeable change in the bar slant.

I ordered one off the bay that wasn't that bad. I used a large crescent wrench over the end cap and gently torqued it to the correct position. The wrench jaws were the length of the end cap so it moved everything

Like I said, chances are bigger with screwdriver :)

Hey what do you know, that's my old thread lol. Hopefully it helps him more than it helped me...for all the good intentions and different ideas in there i never did get that damn center bar straightened! Everyone makes it sound so easy but I was pushing and hammering that thing pretty hard to no avail and finally gave up :(
Disassemble it and do it manually.
