I bought a few brushes and I am not sure about this one. Can anyone identify what it is? It seems to be a wood handle and I am not sure about the knot..possibly Boar? Any idea about the worth ?

The bristles are thick (though they get really soft) on boar. A single strand of badger (regardless of grade) is rather thin.

They do seem to be fairly soft to me a good or bad thing? I do not know
Okay..compare them to one of your sons brushes, as those are badger hair. If this is boar, which it appears to be, it should feel stiffer than their brushes.
It is possible that they are horsehair based upon the age of them. You said there is no markings on bottom, such as "Sterlized", "Bristle", right?
Go ahead and break in that one if you like and I'll buy that one from you. Then if could, take pictures after you rinse it and allow to dry tomorrow.
Maybe after we see it bloom, can get a better idea. I know that my various hairs and bristles each are very unique and easy to tell apart.

you are correct no markings but still not real stiff ..not as soft as mine or my sons buts still fairly soft . I m working a lather now and will let it sit then rinse and dry it I will just keep that one

Well I don't want you to take a hit on a brush you don't like, you just told me this afternoon you did not like it, so figured why waste your money, we'll waste mine.
Looks like Boar to me as well. The handle is interesting. Is it heavy like stone? Is it perhaps Jade or Malachite?

Okay used one last night and this is it next to my silver-tip badger that is in a lapis handle. The bristles are stiffer but not a huge difference to me. Yes it is a wooden handle very light and actually saw the wood in the hole where the bristles are placed. LOL Not Persian kitty hair
