What's new

Calling all "Fatboys", (Gillette that is)

Hello, maybe late to the game, but I just got back my revamped Gillette Fatboy (big smile on face).

I have an average beard growth and sensitive skin.

I was wondering which "Blade" (or blades), you have found to be your sweetspot as you try the various position points on yours?

Any blade I've tried has worked flawlessly in mine - the razor just isn't fussy at all about blades. Favorite blades are Gillette Platinum (Treet Platinum is much less expensive and similar), Perma-Sharp Super, KCG, Personna Comfort Coated, Nacet, Silver Blue etc.

Use whatever blade you normally like. I use Russian Gillettes, Derby Premiums, Astras, Polsilvers, Perma-sharps.

And what, no pics? That won't do.
OOpps, sorry, here's the pic of the FATBOY and it's brother, SLIM! Great work by Chris at Back Roads Gold!

Whatever blade you normally use. My preference may not be the same as yours, my preference now is Wilkinson Sword Classics(German made of course) and then Feather a close second. Setting anywhere from 5 to wide open for me.

The nice thing about adjustable razors is that just about any blade will work well at one of the settings -- I find Polsilvers require 7 to 9, while Indian made Gillette Wilkinson Swords require 3. You set the razor to work with the blade you've chose and your face and shaving style.

Besides, what can possibly be wrong with using one razor for your whole shaving life? A FatBoy, by definition, is at least 64 by now I think, and you'll be getting another 64 years out of the one you have. Probably won't even wear the plating off.
