Call to users of Institut Karite

I picked up a lightly used puck the other day. On the first use it didn't load the brush too well, but the puck lathered pretty good. So, I soaked it a bit today before using it. Again, the puck built up a nice bit of lather, but the brush didn't load too well.

I like to use my scuttle, and so loading the brush is fairly important to me (so I can build the lather in the nice, warm scuttle). Has anyone else had this problem? Does it take a while to load the brush well, or is this just the way IK is?

I want to give it a fair chance, and so I am asking for suggestions. I want to like it; I like the scent and the fact that it has a load of shea. Anyone have input?

Try for a drier brush when loading. I also spent a full minute loading the brush the last time I used it, and slowly added more water to the bowl as I whipped up the lather. You do have to work at it a bit, but when you get it right, you get a very rich, moisturizing lather.

It's triple-milled, so it's a hard puck. I put my puck through a cheese grater to get it into a usable bowl. That really helped because you need to soak the top with hot water to get it soft enough to pick up with your brush. Either that, or use your brush to build up lather on the puck and then transfer to a lather bowl to finish it (takes about 2 minutes). In either case, the goal is to get the brush completely loaded with soap and then start adding water as you build the lather.

Initially had lathering problems due to adding too much water. Discovered less is best.

If using a mug add enough water to cover 3/4 of puck. Follow with a wet brush. Presto beautiful rich lather.

In my case the best way with this soap is to use my semogue brush very wet,
to load it on the soap until I got a sort of "creamy soap" on the bristles and to build the lather directly on my face, I just add a little water if it's necessary, after this it's only pleasure...
