I just got this razor last week (thanks to all you Nasty Enablers out there!). First shave the other day with a new Personna Lab blue was really good, but a little irritating.
Tried it again today with 1 1/2 days growth using a warm superlather of Conk's Almond and Cella (applied with my huge Mason Pearson Pure Badger), and the Personna Lab blue.
All I can say is WOW. Yes, still a little irritation, similar to that which I get from my 1919 Old. I think that's the difference between OC and SB (?). After a little alumblock, a rinse, and a combination of Arbonne shave balm and a little Clubman classic AS, I am pretty impressed with the results.
I am new to DE shaving, and really not into the whole BBS thang. Comfort is important to me, and the EJ DE89L delivers a really comfortable decent shave. I think I've finally got the razor bump problem under control (thanks for the suggestions, guys!), and after about 10 weeks, I've got my "chops down", so to speak.
For $19, I can't complain. I really like the shorter handle on this better than my EJ, and might get another just for the handle. The finish isn't as pretty, but its decent.
