C&E brush

Have noted in several posts that folks seem to value the C&E badger brush as a good value, however, they are getting scarce. I was at our local C&E in town and noticed that they had two. Looked to me like a 20 mm knot with about a 65 mm loft and had a silver ring at the base of the knot. Said on it pure badger, made in Sheffield. Is this the brush that is so well regarded? If so I'll pick one up, they were only $36

Bill --

No, the brush you saw with the metal collar is a step down from the Best Badger that people like.

You can order the equivalent BBB direct from the maker, Edwin Jagger.

Thanks Bro. We used to live in Bowie, over by Allen's Pond Park.

And yep, $26 for this brush at bestgroomingtools. Thanks for helping clear this up.

Bill,

Here's the link at The English Shaving Company to the BBB brush EJ made for C&E (they even state this in their description).

Note the small rim at the top of the handle; the medium EJ of the same size doesn't have this rim, just a smooth transition (no change in brush effectiveness, I'm sure, just a point of info).

It's a great brush; I've been using mine since last April.

Not sure what shipping from England to the States would be.

Edit: This brush at Best Grooming Tools is the EJ equivalent to the C&E BBB and costs $45.50 (21 mm knot).

I had trouble finding it but thanks to the direct link to The English Shaving Company above I found it. I was a little wary of the shipping, being oversees, but that changed quickly. I just bought mine for $38.41 (they adjust to the current exchange rate daily) and since it they are out of England taxes don't apply...I was out the door for $40.92.

I read at classicshaving.com that the jump from Pure to Best isn't huge and it is the jump from Best to Silvertip is "remarkable". On the flip I have seen a number of posts that even though the "luxuriousness" of Silvertip can't be beat the Best be the start of a better shave. As well this seems to be the most recommended brush on the board, so I am going with the upgrade of my Col. Conk Pure to this Edwin Jagger Best.

I've only been wet shaving for about 8 months, so while my knowledge may or may not be correct I did want to answer the questions of shipping overseas. It seems very reasonable and cheaper than a lot of instances I have come across.
