I can't find it, but I have seen on here where someone tried or may have succeeded in building a custom brush. Could anyone post a link or maybe offer suggestions on the feasibility of trying this? The idea intrigues me, a lot.
Good idea, I will have to keep my eyes open. I am curious if the handle will be fat enough to drill out. I am not crazy, I saw one on here somewhere - it was a craftsman screw driver. You may be able to buy empty screwdriver handles. I have observed the guys on tool trucks (Snap-on, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, etc) replace broken handles. Nest time you drive by a parked tool truck, it may be worth stopping and asking.
Would it be this link? http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/235420-first-handle-attempt

Thanks, I might do that - the size of the handle is a concern. I am thinking of looking for a 'giant' example, the kind heavy equipment mechs might use. If I find one large enough I will be giving it a try.Yea, that was me who tried to make a brush from an amber screwdriver handle. Unfortunately the handle from that thread failed, it melted when I tried to bore and polish it too thin. It really would have worked perfect with an 18mm knot but I was young, inexperienced and dead set on cramming a 20mm in there.
The profile of that screwdriver was quite comfortable to hold and it really wasn't too hard to get to that point. I'd be tempted to try it again if I came across another Xcelite screwdriver again. If you have any specific questions about it let me know.
