Brush restoration help

Scissors will hack off most of the knot close to the base. After that, a Dremel tool, carefully handled, will clean out the rest. Depending on the condition of the knot and the knot's adhesive, some members have had luck twisting most of the hair out with pliers.

Cut the old bristles down low near the handle and uses pliers to pull out the remaining knot bristles bit by bit. Using this and a knife you should be able to get the knot pretty clean. Just be careful with the knife that you don't nick the handle around the knot hole ( you might want to tape it a bit ).

You can see the sort of result you can get here

You will however probably end up with a "bumpy" ( not smooth ) bottom of the knot hole that will require extensive sanding, scraping or drilling to make it totally smooth depending on the knot glue .
