Brush in a gym bag ?

Hello gentilmen, I came across this forum a while ago and have been lurking for about two weeks picking up tips and tricks.
Although not really new to wetshaving I am new to the DE and all that lather buisness.... and here in lies the problem.

I usually shave at the gym following a trip to the hot tub and a few minutes in the wet sauna (steam room?), wich is an excellent preparation routine for the shave it self. But I can't really hang the brush up in the gym bag ...

So I ask you who shave at the gym..... How do you store the brush in the bag ?

(English is not my native tounge, be kind)

I think this is the same sort of question that applies to folks who travel a lot.

You can do several things:

Get a pill bottle that your brush will fit in after you use it...drill some holes in it to allow it to breath in the gym bag. Put the bottle somewhere in the bag where there may be drier air...say an end-pocket or something like that.

Put the shaken out brush in something like a toilet paper tube to allow it to dry without getting all mushed up in the gym bag.

Roll the used brush in a dry washcloth that you stow in your gym bag.

Buy a turnback type of brush that has its own storage case.

When I travel and if I have to stow a damp brush I use the dry washcloth approach...that seems to work quite well for me. I also get the brush out of the dopp kit (or in your case gym bag) to allow it to fully dry whenever I can.

I have been using the washcloth approach, but i'm not sure the brush will ever dry out completely that way ...

the toilet paper tube trick is brilliant ! I'll try it tomorrow

thank you

I think a travel brush should be the answer to your question. When you get back home you can set the brush out to dry. If you have access to a hair dryer while at the gym you could blow dry the brush on one of the cooler settings. Whatever you do I'd still put the brush out for several hours once back home. :thumbup1:

You will get a lot of great advice. What I have been doing for a number of years is just throw my brush into my kit bag, along with shampoo, shave cream/soap, razor, balm, etc. The way I look at it, the hair used to be attached to a badger. I workout in the morning and when I get home at night my gym clothes go in the washing machine and my brush sits on my sink to dry. I use the pill bottle routine for travel. I did have a turnback travel brush for awhile, but after getting a rooney 1/1 I don't see the point in using an inferior brush.

The travel tube is a great idea. I will add another suggestion: Get two brushes and two tubes. Take the wet brush out of the tube when you home; then use the other brush and tube the next day. The brush probably won't completely dry, even if the tube has holes. I use the same two-brush routine at home. If you only go to the gym every other day, then you this may not be a problem.

This. Easily this.

Thanks for all the advise, I'll go with the TP tube untill I find a travel tube or a pill bottle that fits. Won't be ordering online, so it will just be whatever comes first ;)

Gillette dominates the market here on this mid-atlantic rock that I live on, and it really is hard to find any shaving products that don't come from their stock room.... maybe I'm being stupid with the not ordering online thing, but I really would like to find a place where I can touch these things and get a feel for what I'm about to buy.
