Well I took a leap into a brush tonight. The only brush I've ever owned, and use now, is a Tweezerman badger hair purchased from Amazon for $13. I personally like it. Doesn't shed and is the perfect size. But lately have been wanting a new brush that doesn't have a wooden handle.
This brush hit Ebay tonight and about 4 minutes after it was listed, I Bought It Now for $5.95 plus $4.85 priority mail shipping.
The brush "came from a set with a razor whose handle was broke. The Brush has what appears to be Brass Rings around the base with some kind of plastic or acrylic rings. See photo. I can't guarantee that the metal is brass, it is highly polished and doesn't tarnish. The Handle is heavy, so that you can set in on the end and it won't tip over. I don't know about the bristles, if they are natural or hair. The piece weighs 5 ounces and is 3 3/4" tall while the handle is 1 1/8" thick. The piece is like new." (the seller's description)
What does the hair look like to you? The seller says there's no markings on the brush and he doesn't know anything about them to be able to tell me. I don't know anything either obviously as my AD is in razors, vintage creams and sticks - not brushes.
Having never used anything but badger hair, and really liking the softness of badger hair, if this isn't badger hair I'd like to get it re-knotted. Where would I go for that besides the thread on here that tells you how to do it? I don't own tools. I'm not mechanically inclined. Anyone here do this work? Not only for this brush but I've also got a vintage Rubberset travel brush where you screw the knot onto one end of the cylinder or store it inside the cylinder and screw the cap on, that I'd love to have re-knotted as well.
Thanks for any info/help/advice.
