I would like to spend under $100 for my next brush (though I realize that the poll includes options that are outside of that range). Here is my current situation:

- I am looking for a good soap brush that is not too scritchy, but is stiffer than my BK4. I would like a brush that will complement the BK4.

- I would like to stick with name-brand brushes for now.

- While I have researched sizes, I not feel that I have enough experience to limit the range of options in this regard (nonetheless, I have no complaint with the BK4's size).

- I am a huge fan of the handle on the Simpson Polo and the Colonel, but I do not want to make my decision solely upon that criteria.

- While I waited for many months for the Rooney 3/1 to be restocked in Tortoise, it appears that they will not be restocked; thus, to be honest, I am a little disenchanted with them now. Yet, I do not want to rule them out as an option for that sole reason.

- Please include any brushes that I have failed to consider.

Thank you!,
Chase

I consider the $75 Rooney 3/1 as the point of diminishing returns when it comes to an all around awesome brush.

I would agree to that with one caveat.

Simpsons Best brushes can often be found lower than the size 1 Rooneys in Super, and (in my opinion, having owned both) easily match or beat the Rooneys. A little more user friendly too since they don't hold the lather as badly.

I think your best bet is the Colonel if you want a larger brush with a larger handle or the Duke 1 if you want a smaller brush with smaller handle.

And the Wee Scot for fun, I love that little guy.

Which Vulfix brushes meet my criteria? I am not familiar with their line, so I would appreciate any guidance.

Regards,
Chase

Any of the Super brushes are in your price range, but (speculation here) I doubt they are stiffer than the Kent. Vulfix brushes are known for being floppy, and the one I had didn't disappoint. But I haven't owned a Kent to compare the two.

I give my full endorsement to the Simpson Duke 1 or Colonel.

I would definitely not rule out the Rooney 3/1 Super. What about a different handle? The Faux Horn is handsome.
