Brick and mortar products

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent shaving soap that can be purchased at a local store? I plan to buy something nice like Tabac off the net but I want to start shaving asap. Thanks.

VDH or williams are good soaps. You can find one of them in most any drug store. Wal-Mart here carries VDH for under 2 dollars. Also, if you have a Bath and Body works close by you can get the C.O. Bigelow brand of creme. It is made by Proraso. It is good as well and will run you about $5. Personally I prefer the creme but my hubbie prefers the VDH.

Awesome thanks jsrdrnr, there's a B&B down by my work I think i'll give that a try.

You are welcome. Here is what the tube looks like. The box looks the same. Just ask a sales person. They will know what you are after. It does have menthol in it. That is not gonna be a prob for you will it?

Another excellent product available locally, is "The Real Shaving Company Shaving Cream". It's available for $5.00 per tube from Rite Aid. It's made by the same factory that makes Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) creams, but is 1/3 of the cost, without any sacrifice of quality.

Also, if you have a natural food store, or natural foods section in a larger grocery store, look for "Kiss My Face Moisture Shave", which is available in my different scents, and is a top performer. It's around $7.00.

Finally, there may be either an Art of Shaving store nearby, or a upper scale store that stocks Art of Shaving products. Their line of shaving creams, and shaving soaps are top notch but a little more pricey.

That is perfect actually, I was hoping find something with some menthol in it.

VDH Deluxe. Holds its own against much more expensive soaps.

+1

I have used a boatload (no exaggeration, I have no fewer than 15 soaps, and creams in stock right now), of products that are supposed to be better than VDH. I still love VDH, and use it frequently.

Helps to know where you are.

If there are any nice malls around You can find a loccitane. Very good soap. Also may some AOS shops around or in nice department stores.

Sephora carries a few lines of men's shaving products. All I have tried is the Anthony Logistics unscented aftershave balm... but, they also carry Jack Black, Zhir, AoS, LAB... these are more upscale trendy brands I think, but I have read some good reviews on products from a couple of these brands.

Just an FYI.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm surprised how much selection there is, I was under the impression I would be shopping online for my shaving needs but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Can anyone recommend an aftershave with a light mint or citrus smell?

Saint Charles Shave Lime Extract or Mediterranean Citrus aftershave splashes. They're both really nice. The M. Citrus has a bit of menthol.
