Breaking News from Schick

"The Hydro five-blade offers the latest in razor technology, including a never before seen flip trimmer, an Advanced Hydrating Gel Reservoir with vitamin E and five smooth glide blades."

Wasn't that going to be Gillette's latest gimmick?

It sounds almost exactly like a Fusion. Looks like one, too.

If they start pushing these with $5-$10 promos, I'll pick one up out of curiosity. Doubt it'll be an improvement over the DE89L, though.

:bored: Ok, someone please explain this to me: Why does everyone put the "lubricating strip" behind the blades? It makes more sense to me for the lube strip to be in FRONT of the blades, to help them glide more effectively.

The easy wash-through is nice, though. Only thing that I see that I want. I'll skip it, thanks.

I'm disappointed. I was hoping for the first 7 blade gizmo.

edit: Do they have financing available for the blade costs?

"Advanced Hydrating Gel Reservoir -- The Hydro blade cartridge uses proprietary technology to pack advanced lubrication – with soothing aloe vera and vitamin E – into a Hydrating Gel Reservoir that reinvents the lubricating strip that is found on most razors today. Men typically shave away their shave gels with the first stroke of their razor. The lubrication delivered by Schick Hydro adds hydration in multiple strokes, providing lubrication from start to finish and reducing irritation."

I don't know why, but I thought this said "Speick" at first. And figured I dont' care what they do as long as they keep making their fine toiletry items.

Then I noticed it was Schick. I think the obsession is taking over my brain!

From the article--
“We had conversations with thousands of men, and what we heard, in short, was the shaving experience needed to be refreshed. They told us the potential for irritation kept them from feeling good during their shaves and that they wanted something that would refresh and rejuvenate them,”

Or...they could go back to what used to work before all the marketing BS.

At least they offer it in both 3 blades and 5 blades

Okay, so I know it's a cartridge. But I have to admit that my first reaction upon seeing the video was "This thing looks cool." As a new piece of "technology," I have to give it props for that. Sure, we may roll our eyes at hydration gel reservoirs and flip-up precision trimmers and skin-guards on the blades (because really, this stuff just gets gummed up over time), but it's actually nice to see what they were able to add.

Does this mean I'll use it? Hell no. But it's impressive from a development standpoint.

I do have one question. This thing proves that the big companies are aware of HYDRATION greatly aiding the shave, yet they still insist on giving us their latest emollient-infused canned goo instead of bringing old-fashioned cream back on the market, which you mix with water to create hydration!

Cool, a good shave it does not make. (Yoda)

I guess they can't call it invention if they use water to hydrate. Too bad because the stuff works well for me.

I've always wondered the same thing.
