Brass shaving bowl

Hi,

I've purchase a pure brass bowl 4x2" and was wondering if anyone has used that metal as a shaving bowl. If so has there been any issue with using it with various creams or soaps?

I used a pewter one for a while. No problems with various creams or soaps. Metal is an excellent conductor of heat so floating it in a sink full of hot water gives nice hot later. Of course letting it sit on the counter for even a couple of minutes gives nice cold lather....

I don't think it'll hurt the lather, but brass tarnishes pretty easily. So you'll probably have to deal with that eventually.

Let us know how it works out. I prefer a bowl with a bit of ridges on the inside...like a cereal bowl.
The metal will be lighter and the patina will be quite classy as it developes.

If you like ridges inside you should have a look at a suribachi.
