brainstorm ideas to raise funds for B&B

Just wanted to brainstorm some ideas on how we can raise money for Badger and Blade.

The idea being that we might be able to come up with some innovative ideas that could benefit B&B. So lets collectively use our brainpower for some good. Random ideas are fine, lets all throw some stuff in this stew and hopefully we can add, embellish or otherwise perfect some concepts. Look, I know it's all been done, but not here and not now...so let's get crackin'!


I'll start with some random thoughts...Others have posed this question before...what if B&B got a small fee for items sold on the BST? after all they are providing a wonderful service...maybe 50 cents an item?

What if B&B sold ads on the splash page only?

What about having an annual B&B convention?

People would donate items to a central place (I don't know who) then that person would run an auction (maybe through ebay)
all the proceeds would go directly to B&B.
Buyers would pay shipping.
It would put a strain on whoever receives the goods then has to ship them out.
but if you made it for a limited time, say 1 week with items closing every day at different times, then you could mass ship the items out in a few batches.

Good idea. I think it has the potential to bring it good money. Logistics could be tough, but it is possible.

Why did you sell your stuff at the shave den and straight razor place, instead of B&B?

A more concerted campaign to get people to become contributing members would be a good idea.

Maybe some kind of gift, like a B&B t-shirt for a certain level of giving would help. Maybe a B&B email address would be nice, too.

i've been wanting to become a contributor, but i'm trying to save up for a nice straight\strop combo and all the small purchases in between are nickeling and diming me to death.

that said, having an email address here would certainly boost my interest in putting some money back into B&B, although i'll most likely do it before too long anyway.

Very good idea. Not long ago I sold my Merkur Futur with proceeds going to B&B. It feels damn good to help this place.

How about a "Post of Dimes"

Like a March of Dimes, but on the board.

This could take one of two possible formats;

1. Certain members post a thread asking for a level of donation (a dime) from folks who sign up in the thread. After a specified time for recruiting backers, the member has 4 hours to post on the board in different forums, with the backers paying the dime per post that was made in the 4 hour period.

an alternative method;

2. We select one or two of the most obnoxious amongst us, and sign up to donate a certain amount of money to B&B for every hour that the members selected DON'T make a post on B&B !!

Get them addicted and then put a 5-second count-down timer before showing up the real post, where you show ads from sites selling stuff to increase manhood OR restrict daily online time on B&B !!

Seriously, though, I think some type of "membership drive" awareness campaign would help. Sometimes good things in our lives are taken "for granted" and we need to be reminded that the best things in life aren't free.

I know I have been hanging around here shooting off my mouth enough that I should be contributing $$ as well as "lip" . . .

I am planning on selling one of my duplicate razors I aquired and putting the money toward my Contribution to B&B. It's the least I can do for the site that has given me so much info on a new pleasure in my life.
The only thing is, I will have to wait till I have 50 posts or 45 days to sell in the BST.

perhaps a clever bumper sticker.
Remember that whatever we do, we need to keep the overhead low and make sure that whoever takes the task is not burdened too much.

Charge a dime for each post to the clownhouse that should raise a few grand a month from just a handful of guys.
