What's new

Bolzanos

Currently trying to get the last product choice finalised- my blade. The Y7s were great...until they gave up before the last pass of the second shave! Have tried many others and went for 10 Bolzanos at the weekend. I've noticed that they aren't the sharpest blades out there and I'm getting ever-so-slightly patchy results, but for some reaosn my skin seems to zing after using them in a very pleasant and unusual way. If they weren't so damned expensive, I'd probably order 50 or so and see how they went, but I was just wondering how dedicated-Bolzano users find them. Is this part of the character these blades, which I need to compensate for? Any comments would be appreciated.

I seeeeeeee. Well, I can only assuming "us" Bolzano users are a hypercool lot, not up and about till after cocktail hour. :)

Well, I'm sure that somebody will chime in about these blades at some point.
I don't have any...ahem...Balzanos right now, but I hope to get a couple soon:biggrin:

I can only live in hope.

Not that I don't now trust my own judgement in these matters. I think they can now be classed as "boutique".

Not heard of Croma but I'll look them up, thanks. Tried a brand-new Derby on 36hrs-worth of stubble last night (slept in, Thurs am and no shave) and have just ordered another 30 Bolys. Ok, they are expensive, but for now at least, they seem to be the ones my face prefers....and who am I to argue with such a masterpiece!

I just finished the last 3 days trying out Bolzano Superinox Titanium loaded in a Gillette red tip. 1st impression with the 1st shave started out kind of scratchy, but by the 2nd pass smoothed out. Not has sharp as what I was used to (Swedes), 2nd shave smooth, not feeling sharp, but no pulling. 3rd shave feeling dull all 3 shaves were irritation free, but moved on to try something else.

Funnily enough, I wasn't blown away with the sharpness either. Their attraction is somewhat ephemeral / undetermined. It might even be purely psychological, but for some reason I feel great after using them.

Had my 1st shave with one this A.M. in my 40's SS. Got a comfortable close shave & was pleased with the results. They are a good blade but still do not out perform the Ireali Red Personnas. At this point I'm beginning to think that nothing does.

I had high hopes for these blades, however when I used the first one it pulled so bad that I could not try a 2nd shave with it, nor did I use the rest of the blades. It was a very rough shave and left a lot of patches.

J.

I'm really sorry to hear that Jcof. Hope you didn't buy them on a/c of my ravings. I just tried them in a Tech and they worked even better than in a Superspeed. I don't get any more than DFS, but it feels right. That said, the Debys were damn close and much cheaper. And its really clear that Bolys are not for everyone

Well thankfully I only bought 5 of them on an order from a place in the UK. However, I did find that I really like the Treet Platinums from that order so in the end it was worth the whole purchase.

Phew. I recently had a similar "mixed" transaction, with a DE in much worse cdtn than described, but the brush a revelation. I suppose we need to put it down to experience.

had to remove my orig reply, after reading it again was probably a little more smart alec-ey than I intended
