Bob's Chocolate Flake

Here's a really stupid question - is Bob's Chocolate Flake supposed to be in flakes in the tin? I recently got a tin from a vendor in the US and when I opened the tin there is a sealed bag of a loose cut style of tobacco. I've never had Bob's Chocolate Flake before so I don't know what it's supposed to look like. I thought that possibly the flake is pre-rubbed out, but that would obviously defeat the purpose of it being called a flake.

The tin was properly sealed when I opened it.

It's been a long time since I smoked it but I think mine was in flake form, possible what they call broken flake, somewhat rubbed.

The flake is usually pressed more loosely than some, and falls apart fairly easily. That said you can usually tell where it was a flake when initially cut with some retaining their shape.

+1

I have some old bulk BCF that retained it's flake form well, but I just got a few new tins of it a few weeks ago and opened one to find what looked like a semi-rubbed out flake. I presume it was just a result of being bumped around in shipping. it's still obviously a flake, just not neat flake sheets one would be used to.

James is correct tho - it's not a very hard pressed flake to begin with. One of my favorite daytime tobaccos to boot. YUM!

Thank you for the responses. It seems I have made a rookie error - when I opened the tin it looked like a loose cut tobacco, however after reading this thread I opened the plastic packet inside and can see how it is a loose flake. :blushing: Thanks again.
