I'm looking to purchase a fishing boat. My question is does anyone have a newer Evanrude motor? I know boat motors are like razors, guns, motorcycles and everything else, I.M.O. everyone just knows their's is the only one to buy. But my question is only asking about Evanrudes. If anyone owns one or knows anyone how owns one I would love to hear from you............Thanks........JR

Which Evinrude? E-Tec? E-Tec HO?
From what I've heard the E-Tecs are fine motors. Don't have any personal experience except with an older model Johnson 150 E-Tec (basically the same) that had a little bit of start-up problems but ran like a champ once it fired. If I would have to guess is that it was a 2003 model. I'm sure they have hammered those problems out since I haven't heard anything about it since.

It's funny. Johnson people always say that they are the same as Evinrudes, but I never hear Evinrude owners say that they are the same ad Johnsons.
